Looking for other backyard gardeners to meet in each others backyards from the time the snow is gone (usually late March to Halloween) till it starts up again. It would also be nice to share crops we have too much of. It would also be nice to share ideas on growing crops (veggie, fruits & herbs) organically, other plants like perennials & bushes/trees, and sharing seeds and plants from our gardens.
… Or sit on the board of a an urban non-profit that brings produce to people in need......or you're a policy student, interested in finding ways of lobbying for the small organic food producers. We're all members of a community of food-lovers!! So let's get together and do what we do best - eat!

I'm starting this group as part of my effort to become free of industrialized foods. I want to become as strong and healthy as I can, and realize that this will involve abandoning the Standard American Diet. Instead, I'd like to eat as our distant hunter gatherer ancestors ate, an eating style known as the Paleo diet. Meeting others on a similar path would make the journey so much fun! We could meet for potluck dinners, and share ideas. I have found the following books helpful: Deep Nutrition by …

In some places, there is no relationship in evidence at all. Every problem facing mankind*: from inter-personal conflict to international conflict; from social isolation to economic inequality to climate change; from social justice issues to environmental challenges - all have been exacerbated by this growing bifurcation. Some of the produce we eat travels an average of 1,400 miles from farm to plate. Food has to be picked and transported for days before they reach peak ripeness, compromising their taste and nutrition. Conventional methods of monocultural food production use large amounts of chemical pesticides and fertilizers that can also end up on our plates. Cities offer a number of resources for food production that have been traditionally overlooked. There are better ways to grow food right where we li …
